BOOTCAMP:
Dates, Times and Location:
Bootcamp will be at Sun Tree Park in Riverplace.
Days will be Tuesday August 1st - Friday, August 4th and Tuesday August 8th - Friday August 11th from 5:00pm-7:30pm.
Bootcamp marks the beginning of the Viper Cheer season and attendance is mandatory for all participants. Pop Warner National mandates 20 practice hours for conditioning and practice before players can put on their pads, stunt, tumble or participate in a game/scrimmage. National Pop Warner rules require:
-
prior to any athlete participating in regular practice activities, 10 hours of conditioning (No stunts or tumbling for cheer) followed by
-
10 hours of player readiness ( Stunt and Tumbling progressions only for cheer)
-
MAXIMUM of 10 hours per week, 2.5 hours per day of practice prior to Labor day
-
For bootcamp, girls will need white shirt, black shorts. Hair tied up in ponytail. They need to wear their cheer shoes and white no show socks. Bring a yoga mat (or towel) for warmup and a Water bottle and cooling towel are encouraged during bootcamp.
It is VERY difficult for players missing any of these practices to “catch up” to the rest of the team in terms of development and understanding. Therefore, we ask that each player makes the effort to attend every practice in August. Otherwise, the athlete will have to spend time while the rest of the team is practicing, making up those condition hours under a Pop Warner certified coach’s supervision before being allowed to participate in the rest of the team activities. This is especially important in the team sport of cheer. We can’t begin to work on our stunts, tosses and pyramids without everyone completing their required hours first. If your cheerleader misses out on these early practices, it will affect placement and position in these team activities as the rest of team will start forming stunt groups and partners with those who have completed their required hours.
Please make every effort to plan your August travel and plans accordingly!!
